Where to eat in Bali: my 48 tested spots (2026)

Bali has an incredible food scene — but it's spread across the whole island and quickly drowned in Instagram recommendations. Here are my 48 favourite restaurants, genuinely tested, sorted by area on a clean map so you find the right spot wherever you are.

Understand Bali's food areas

Golden rule in Bali: eat where you are, not where the guide says. The island is big and congested — driving 90 minutes for a restaurant makes no sense. Each area has its own personality:

Warung, beach club or café: which to pick?

The warung is the small local eatery: best value (a nasi campur for €2-3) and often the tastiest. The beach club is about the experience (music, pool, sunset) more than the plate — budget for it. The cafés of Canggu/Ubud are perfect for breakfast, brunch and working.

My practical tips

Book ahead for popular sunset spots (especially Uluwatu). Drink bottled or filtered water. Often pay cash in warungs. And don't be afraid to skip the Instagram spots: the best little eateries have no account.

FAQ

How much does eating in Bali cost?
Very variable: a local warung is €2-4 a dish, a Canggu café €6-10, a beach club or high-end restaurant €20 and up. You eat brilliantly for little if you favour warungs.
Where is the best food in Bali by area?
Canggu/Seminyak for international food and brunch, Ubud for vegetarian and refined, Uluwatu for ocean views. My map sorts them by area so you can choose nearby.
How do I find these restaurants on the ground?
Each place on my map opens its Google Maps listing (reviews, hours, directions) in one tap. You can also save the whole list into your own MyFavsMap account.
Is it easy to eat vegetarian in Bali?
Yes, very easily, especially in Ubud and Canggu: Bali is one of the most veggie-friendly destinations in Asia.
