How to import a list of places onto your own map

A list of places is only useful if you can see and use it. Here are all the ways to import your addresses — from a Google Maps export to a plain copy-paste — to gather them on one map.

The formats you can import

MyFavsMap accepts several inputs: the GeoJSON/CSV file from Google Takeout, a shared Google Maps list link, or plain pasted text (one address per line). You're never stuck on a format.

Step by step: from Google Maps to your map

Export your places (see our export guide), open MyFavsMap, choose « Import », drop the file or paste the link/text. Places are geocoded and placed on the map in seconds.

Organise, filter and plan your itineraries

Once imported, sort your places by category (restaurants, culture, nature…), filter, then generate a proximity-optimised itinerary. Add notes and keep a travel journal by country.

Your data stays yours

Import happens in your own space: your lists are private by default and exportable anytime (GPX, KML). You keep full control, with no lock-in.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import without a file, just by copying text?
Yes. Paste a list of addresses (one per line) and MyFavsMap geocodes and places them on the map.
Are my imported places visible to others?
No, they're private by default. You decide whether to publish a list to the community.
Can I re-export my places afterwards?
Yes, as GPX and KML, to use them in other apps or a GPS device.
